Memorable Grannny's Home....

Aaaaah...!!! my favourite Nanu'r Basha (Mother Side Granny's home) in Kaporia Potty, Comilla.....where I was born. I used to spend hours looking at the street or at the sky from the balcony or from the roof top since when I was a kid..The ringing of the Rikshaw bells, the car horns , hawking of the bus helpers and conductors.... all these together used to make a sweat melody that I used to enjoy... Some times a few shouts from my Nanu or Mamas like '.......Meeeem....Ai .....Meeeem......' used to add a thrilling feeling to it when accidentally any of my 'Good works' was discovered downstairs.. From the roof top facing the front you could see up-to Raajgonj square looking at left.. and up to Chock Bazaar looking at right. The owners of this house (my mamas ie. mother-side uncles) demolished it.... giving it to the apartment builders..

Decided : Gonna take the horse ride out of this Merry-go-Round

On my blog again after a long while I guess... Anyway I thought I should try to put something on it even if I don't find anything driving me to write again... Something that at-least keeps me attached with this once beloved time-pass...
This morning I was advising one of my cousins how to make her way out of  agonizing and embarrassing feeling about herself. On an FB status she said she has a good head but yet she finds very often a fool out of herself. My advice for her was to stop it right there....and take a bold decision not to remain a fool anymore.. Now, I don't know where that interesting idea came from making me so confident  that it's just a matter of a strong decision....!!! But now at this sleepless hour of midnight I just made an interesting discovery that ...Yes....!! ....it's true... it's very much about my decision. My decision to get out of this 'not so smart' way of leading life. To try out my potentials... Like before this job I used to think that being a part of a developers' team in a software development company could gradually lead me to the career of my dream. For that I used to feel satisfied working full hours in software farms even in unfriendly, agonizingly unproductive and time wasting environments at the cost of halting my MS thesis...
Now , after spending last 8 months in an international telecom call terminator (an IGW at it's setup phase), I came to know a lot more about my potentials.... or at least about the expected level of my output.....So , I decided that's enough....... Now I need to start a business in this domain...alongside a job wherever possible (and somewhat suitable...).... So, pray for me everybody...

And how long should this be the picture.....

It took 1 hour 20 mins to get to my office at MohaKhali, BRAC University area,  starting from Azimpur... This however is not any exceptional day...It's the same story for many city dwellers everyday…… And I never complained…!!!! But today, I couldn’t help it..!!!….And decided to let it out... So, here I ask.... In what kind of capital of what kind of country of what kind of people/politicians/government are we actually residing...!!? In what sort of future, this country is actually heading to...!!!!? Pleas answer me. Don't just keep absorbing. Because you are sure to let it out someday….

The Neta Beans Fired Pipe Gun of our Boy-Hood

Guys with a raise up time outside Dhaka, please name some of the inseparable toys of our boy-hood.

..............Marbles , Wooden Tops , Tennis Ball, Rolling Rings,  Yio-Yio  and the list goes on .......

But do we remember the unforgettable weapon of that time that used to be a toy of showing cool skills ,having fun ..(and making troubles….!!)..?

Boy-Hood Weapon
Yes !, I am talking about this Handmade, Bean Pumped single shot Pipe Gun..”..The Neta Gun/Sniper”......

Reminds me of my Boy-Hood...!! Used to hang around all the day with this Single Shot Air Gun made of thin Bamboo cane/pipe as it's barrel (just thick enough to be filled up with a standard-sized bean) and special beans ("Neta") as it's bullets. It requires to load two of those beans at a time to make each shot. One at the front end of the pipe and another one at the back. The one at the top of the barrel is the striking bean and the other one at the back is used to pump the barrel. Another thin bamboo cane with a thick wrist-grip is used as the 'Firing Pin'. This pin needs to be cut about a centimeter shorter than the length of the barrel. So that, after making a shot the pumping bean at the back is automatically pushed to the top of the barrel turning into the striking bean.

..And trust me....if the gun is immaculately crafted, the beans are perfectly chosen and if the shot is taken by a skilled pair of hands...(...really cool hands..!!) then the target (not always birds), I am afraid is really in painful trouble if it hits....in a close range. Because it really is an effective short-range Non-Lethal Sniper....

Glorious Sorrow and Priceless Tears

Spirit,Unity, Success,Joy,then Sorrow and even stronger Spirit all around...

Another sort of taste the young bunch of tigers has taken that night. So has taken the nation along with them.  Post match analysis was going on around almost in everycorner in all classes of people.  No picketing, no attack on any cricketer’s family,   just a few muttered remorse of the hearts that were biting so high just a few minutes ago.
But if you look at the way our cricket has made it this far by the Rahmat of Allah, you will find that we are going through almost all sorts of sweat and sour experiences that is actually making our build up more solid and stronger with time In shaa Allah.
There have been quite a few occasions in last 40 years where the nation made it’s appearance in the world. But the greatest concussion after 1971 is said to have risen by cricket. Because, after winning the ICC Trophy 1997, Bangladesh National Cricket Team has struggled a lot in the international arena what most of the times were obviously because of pathetic miss management by it’s authority. The sorry tale at World Cup 2003 for the unforgettable carelessness of the chief team selector is the most shocking evident of that. But they kept moving on and the nation stayed with them. That’s why ultimately some tigers came out of the so called “ Bottom Less Basket ” and rocked the cricketing world showing typical Bangladeshi character what their ancestors had shown in 1971, 1952 and many more times in their glorious history… (to be continued…with reader’s feedback Insha Allah)

Well that's enough to start writting again after a while

And  a touch of the childhood dreams once again........!!.. Thought I could start it just dropping  some lines on this "Off-day round up". But right now .....I gotta hurry to bed to say the Fajar prayer right in time tomorrow Insha Allah and then make it to my desk at office in time and without any drowsiness.(That’s really affecting my productivity for last few days…). Actually just have watched the ending part of the Disney animation , Rupangel (Tangled) tonight. It was the second time for me. Ending Dialogue from it's hero made me "doing some calculations" once again.

"After years and years and years of asking ....I finally said  ''Yes"...."

Of-course he was kidding…. ;)

But then, I started to make a speculation …. After the 30th round of seasons of my life last December, how many years actually I have to wait to say “yes” to such a question from anybody…Cuzz nobody actually has asked me yet …!! Let alone any query from anyone of my choice.

I remember I’ve started asking for marriage from a very tender age. I’ve proposed Shila Apu,  a senior girl in my neighborhood  saying “ শিলা আপু , আমি তোমাকে বিয়ে করবো ...” when I was 7 or 8 and at the size of Shila Apu’s legs..!! I did it for a pack of nuts offered in exchange from Sohel Bhai, another senior brother of the same neighborhood, Barisal Poly-technique Institute … Well ,whatever consequence  I had to suffer next few days, Sohel bhai surely was entertained at that moment and I got the nuts….(to be continued…)

Trying to Off-Load

Once in a professional training course on software development, the course instructor showed an interesting way to take some load off the head. Urging to start the practice of putting down our daily plans and additional thoughts on a paper he made it sure that all the trainees are following that at-least for first few days in that course. That was actually a compulsory part of that training on OOP at BASIS that I started around December ,2008. Like all other courses I've gone through in my life I do regret on not giving my hundred percent to take the best out of that so valuable course . But it was so well designed and useful course with hands-on training that even after getting a mediocre score of B on that it gave me a huge boost in my confidence to switch into software sector.

But tonight's topic is actually on that interesting mind relaxing technique taught in that course. "Task Plan , Daily/Weekly/Monthly", that's what the instructor used to call it. It was pretty simple but effective. One has to draw a table on a page of his note book with columns for Task Number, Task Name, Task name, Execution Timeline, Priority and check-box. Additional columns can be added as needed. As it was a part of the "Soft Skills" of that software course, response from each of the trainees to this lesson was I guess counted in their annual "soft evaluation". But if we try to take a positive look at it we can see that the introduction of that skill in that professional training program actually was a door (or a window whatever you call it..!!) for us to the disciplined and planed way of leading life. In today's competitive world where so many of us struggle to get a momentum at the initial stage of our career, a modern man with a commitment towards life can smartly choose this option to make a stand-alone leading performance. When a person like me who already had struggled in a year long service in an ISP with not so apparent progress in my career , sat down with pen and paper to make the table , I definitely had to do some planning with some organized way of thinking. Doing it regularly one can make a positive change in his or life Insha Allah. Because with the pen you are not only writing a task plan in a columned table that you fear failing to follow but also pushing yourself to make a positive view of your future life the way you wished to see it and optimistically plan for it to make it come true. Maintaining this regularly a person can gradually get very near to be an exact follower of the task plan as the instructor said. Undoubtedly that would be great achievement for anybody. Moreover , the instructor said that this habit relaxes our brain releasing a big amount of load. Interestingly when I started to follow that practice , pretty soon I discovered that it works!! At least it helped me to have good night's sleep by the Rahmat of Allah.
